AERIS GAINSBORO: Our dear flower girl and half-Cetra, Aeris. She is Zack's ex-girlfriend. Ex only because to her, Zack never came back home. Like Cloud, Aeris met Zack when he came busting through the church roof, his first words to her are "Angel?". When Aeris first came to Elmyra's home to live, she could hear Elmyra's dead husband, so maybe she could sense Zack in the Lifestream as well? At any rate, they are reunited in the Lifestream according to Hoshi wo Meguru Otome. In the Crisis Core trailer, there is a time that Zack breaks down in tears and Aeris embraces him in consolation. Due to her connection with the Life Stream, there is no doubt by the expression on her face that she felt Zack's passing into the Life Stream, whether she really wanted to believe it was Zack who passed away or not is another story however.

ANGEAL HEWLEY: Zack's best friend and mentor. Like Sephiroth and Genesis, Angeal has but one wing, but unlike them his wing is white, not black. Angael is constantly talking about pride and the importance of having a dream. To Angeal, to be the best means you need to have dreams, whereas for Sephiroth and Genesis power is the most important. Among Genesis and Sephiroth, Angael played the part of peace maker. However, once he realizes that he was the prodect of an experiment, he mourns his loss of humanity and turns to Zack to end his life so that he will not risk losing himself to the corrupted cells injected into his body before he was even born into this world. Even in death, he watches over and protects Zack and when Zack dies, it is Angeal who takes his hand and guides him into the lifestream. Head to the Crisis Core section for more info on him.

CLOUD STRIFE: Zack's friend. Cloud really looked up to Zack and admired him. Once Zack dies,he continues to keep his eye on Cloud from within the Lifestream with Aeris. In Crisis Core, Cloud is unable to express his feeling towards Zack but sends him email expressing his gratitude towards Zack for Zack's faith in him.

SEPHIROTH: A fellow Soldier First Class, world reknown hero who losses sanity and goes on a homicidal rampage. Before Genesis' constant reminders that he, Sephiroth, and Genesis are monsters and the mission to Nibelhiem, Sephiroth was a kind, quiet but disciplined Soldier. After Angeal disappeared, it was Sephiroth that, in a vieled way, comforted Zack. To Zack, he becomes a respected friend, they even share some laughs together. When Sephiroth goes off for long periods of time studying the research done by Holander and Hojo, Zack worries about him. Sephiroth even gives Zack a little insight into his past. Sephiroth was an icon, a hero and to say the least, he was respected and admired by Zack, who aspired to be a legend like Sephiroth. However surreal and incomprehesible Sephiroth's actions were to Zack-- no doubt witnessing your hero's fall from grace is heart wrenching-- and despite the fact he considered Sephiroth a friend, Zack puts his all into the fight for the sake of the innocent lives taken by Sephiroth.

TIFA LOCKHEART: Tifa, why oh why did her character designers decide to put her in a skimpy cowboy outfit in Crisis Core. Although after being injured by Sephiroth, Tifa claims she hates Soldier, Shinra, and Zack, it's only anger talking. Their relationship doesn't seem to extend beyond acquaintances.

TSENG : Tseng, the leader of the Turks. He has interactions with Zack in Crisis Core and Last Order. In Crisis Core, Tseng is the efficient Turk we know him to be. There are times when he aids Zack, and it is Tseng that Zack asks to look over Aeris during his mission to Nibelhiem. Tseng is disgusted with his orders to give Zack and Cloud to Hojo, then hunt them down when they escape. If he had a choice, it's clear that Tseng may have chosen more ethical paths, but alas, he was a slave to Shinra. Most assumed he died in FFVII after Sephiroth attacked him and the Temple of the Ancients collapsed, but he lived! Even after being attacked by Kadaj in Advent Children, he's still there licking Shinra's boots, even though Shinra Co. no longer exists. In the way that Zack had pride in being a Solider, no doubt Tseng has the same pride in being a Turk.

GENESIS : A famous Soldier: Class 1st. He grew up together with Angeal in Banola. From the popular novel Loveless and his knowledge of Project G, Genesis decides there can only be one 'hero' making him turn against Sephiroth and Angeal. He seems to no longer consider himself a human being, and thoughout Crisis Core he reminds Zack and the others that Soldiers are monsters. In the end he is deteriorating and goes into the Lifestream where he meets the 'Goddess' he read of in Loveless, but she gives him an ending he was not expecting....

ZACK'S PARENTS : I don't have a picture of them, and the picture would be the awful little polygonal figures from the game. Zack's last letter to home came seven years ago, and due to the events that occured since then, his parents have had no contact from him since. Zack goes to visit them while he is on the run from Shinra with Cloud, but decides against it. So he asks Shisune to look out for his parents for him, to give them some comfort and assurance. The Mako reactor blows up, destroying the town, the rebuilt town is shoddy. No doubt they made inquiries to Shinra about their son that went unanswered. Tragically, Zack's Mother and Father are still in Gongaga, waiting for some word from their only child, leaving them no closure and the remainder of their lives hoping their son will come walking through the door someday.

LAZARD : He is the one who supervises SOLDIER. Upon learning about Project G, he goes after Professor Holander and is also wanted by Shinra. Later we learn that he asks Holander to make him into a clone of Angeal, but Holander fails to mention that Project G was a failure and the 'specimins' are suffering from an unstoppable deterioration. As a deterioting clone of Angeal, Lazard decides that instead of revenge, he wants to help save Zack and Cloud.

SHISUNE : A Turk. Zack saves her when Genesis' clones attack Midgar. It seems that she is fond of Zack, maybe even a crush. When Zack first sees Genesis' wings, he calls him a monster, but it is Shisune who offhandedly tells Zack that wings are the proof of an angel, not a monster. She puts off her duties as a Turk and instead of capturing Zack and Cloud like she is ordered to, she allows Zack to escape. In Gongaga, Shisune warns Zack that Shinra is watching the area so it isn't safe for him to see his parents, but she promises she will put his parents at ease in Zack's place, so they won't worry for their son.

YUFFIE KISAGARI : Little Yuffie. Zack first meets her during an assult on Wutai. She tries to beat him up, and Zack being the person he is, falls over and plays dead for her. Later, during missions, she steals Zack's materia.

VINCENT VALENTINE : While in the Shinra mansion, if you so chose, you can take Zack into the catacombs. some of the coffins hold enemy monsters, but one holds Vincent. 'Whoa, there's someone sleeping in there!'

HOLANDER & HOJO : Shinra scientists. The ones responsible for all the loss of life and humanity. The ones responsible for Project G, S, and all the rest involving injecting embryoes with Jenova cells. Holander is forced to perform the research on himself by Genesis and dies from deterioration. Hojo is killed by Cloud and his posse..
