Hoshi wo Meguru Otome: "The Maiden That Travels the Planet" is an official short story by Benny Matsuyama. It tells of Aeris after her death and her wonderings in the Lifestream. In chapter 5, she runs across Zack, and is shocked seeing that she hadn't seen him for 5 years and didn't know he had died. They talk about Sephiroth and Niblheim and ones Aeris Mentions Cloud's name, Zack gets excited. "Woah woah, hold it there! How do you know about Cloud too? And is he safe?!" Reinforcing Zacks goodness, all he cares about is the welfare of his friend. From this story it seems only souls that feel they have unfinished business or a debt to repay do keep part of their conscience and do not completely join with the planet in the Lifestream. For Zack, knowing his friend's situation, worry must of kept him from completely fading away. Matsuyama emphasizes Zack's flirtatiousness haha. Zack tells Aeris he will sleep for a while and to call him when she feels lonely. Zack makes his final appearence at the end to help Aeris, who is asking everyone to gather their power so that Meteor can be destroyed. Zack appears, focusing his energy to her, asking her if she saw Cloud's finishing blow with Sephiroth, because it was one of his techniques. Zack had worried for Cloud all those years and is now proud seeing how far his friend has come and is bent on helping him, even in death.
