JAPANESE VERSION What I like best is that Crisis Core is not turn based, You can get Zack to do attacks the whole time. My ony complaint is that I haven't seen a status counter for enemies, which means you keep on hacking until they die. Also for summons, you have to actually battle the monster and win. With summons you cannot chose to summon like in FFVII, You have to wait til limit break/DWE (which seems to happen when major changes occur to HP, AP, or MP points). You don't get the summons when you battle that summon, after you defeat it, you have to go to a save point to do the mission 'Materia Hunter: Zack" and fight the summon AGAIN, then you get it if you win. lol

I don't know if the American version will differ much, but I will post information as I get there. First off I think the trailers are a bit misleading. I'm probably 1/3 into the game, but Sephiroth does not appear to be the enemy-- he's on the 'good side'. Also the friend that Zack refers to is Angeal. so what's going on.

Zack starts the game Soldier: Class 2. Angeal choose him to go on a mission (Wutai) that Lezard assigned so that Zack will make Solder: Class 1. During this mission however Angeal disappears. And the ninja looking soldiers attacking them are actually Genesis clones.

So they (Tseng and Zack) go to Angeal's hometown Banola. But that is Angeal's and Genesis' hometown. There are apple's growing on the trees that grow like arches, but Angeal never took them b/c they belonged to Genesis' parents. That's the whole 'baka ringo' thing in a nutshell (I'll have to go back to that save spot an reread that story to be certain). Zack goes to this village with Tseng. There, Zack meets Genesis' Mom (Genesis had already killed his 'father') and she tells him the Buster sword was Angeals first sword when he made soldier and a family heirloom or something (I'm sorry I didn't pay that much attention). Anways, they go to this factory and there they meet Genesis reading Loveless (its some story, about a Goddess's gift, and that there will be only one hero out of three [ie: Sephiroth, Genesis, Angeal] to get the Goddess favor.) Genesis starts to attack Zack, but Angeal stops him. Anywho, Shinra wants to destroy the town to kill Genesis, deemed a traitor, so Zack goes to save Genesis' Mom, but she's been killed. He seems angeal in a corner and Angeal tells him she had to die (i don't think he was the one who killed her tho, I'm pretty sure it was Genesis, in a text message from Lezard Genesis' parents weren't related to him by blood...). Angeal appears again and summons Bahamaut (boss fight) and reveals his black wings, telling Zack Soldiers are nothing but monsters. Shinra bombs Banola and as Zack gets into the helicopter with Tseng, he sees the apples burning (cry).

What next? Months pass the war with Wutai ends, Zack gets Soldier:Class 1, but can't be happy about it b/c Angeal is still gone (and being considered a traitor like Genesis). So Sephiroth takes Zack to find Professor Holander (who seems to be playing the part of Hojo (who you get to met in the Soldier training room in all his weird evilness). holander is hiding in the mako reactor. We get to see a cutscene of Sephiroth's memory of his time with Angeal and Genesis. They are training, but all of a sudden Genesis begins to battle Sephiroth for real, saying he will become the famous hero (Sephiroth is clearly stronger than Genesis and Angeal). Genesis even blast Angeal directly in the face so he won't stop their fight. Just as Sephiroth knocks Genesis down for the hundredth time, Genesis begans forming anouther ball of energy in his hand, but Angael jumps in and demands he stops, Genesis tries to hit Angeal with the energy ball but Angeal blocks it and a shard of his sword slices Genesis shoulder. Holander says the would was bad b/c of the magic and Genesis needs blood, but only Angeals blood will work. So back to the mission, Zack has to chase down the chubby Holander (Genesis has appeared to protect Holander, who btw is making Genesis AND angeal clones. Sephiroth is holding Genesis back). When you finally get to Holander, Angeal stops him. he shows his single white wing and say's he is a monster and that a monsters objective is world domination and revenge (against shinra for taking his humanity?). Zack tells him that wings aren't evidence of a monster but of an angel. Angeal ask what dreams should he have. And Angeal asks Zack what is it he thinks angels trule desire, and knocks Zack across the reactor. He tells Zack Angel's want to be human and cast a fire magic demanding Zack to fight but Zack refuses to fight him. The blast hits him and Zack falls down into the slum into aeris' church.

So he meets Aeris blah blah, Aeris says she'll lead him out of the slums to the upper level of Midgar. While in the 'shopping' district of the slum some kid steals Zacks wallet so you take forever talking to everyone tracking the kid down. Once you find the kid, he stole your wallet to get medicine for his brother, but its not enough so Zack goes towards the playground area and kills monsters for their money. Aeris agrees to go on a date with Zack as payment for helping him when he fell thru her church. Zack is the one who bought Aeris her trademark pink hair ribbon. They go to the park. Aeris tells Zack that soldier's are strange and scare her. Zack reveals to her that he is a Soldier, she apologizes. She notices Zack's bright blue Mako eyes, and says that if the sky is the same color as his eyes she'd be happy to see the sky (remember you can't see the sky below the plate). Zack gets a call from Lezard-- Genesis has attacked Shinra building building hurry back. on his way back the kid gives Zack the Steal materia (what was it called in English?). Anywho, Zack battles his way to Shinra buidling, but meets Angeal. He asks Zack to lend him his strength. Angeal isn't sure of his purpose, but he decides to fight everything that causes the world suffering (aka Genesis) so he wraps an arm around Zack and flies off to the Shinra building to Sephiroth....

Oh yeah! I should add that In Holander's lab, his notes tell you about the experiments. It seems to be the same as with Sephiroth. Cells of an ancient being (Jenova) are injected into embryos.... And the koinu Zack thing, was started by Angeal it seems, b/c Zack has little focus/concentration and is super hyper. lol Zack's personality is sooo cute. After almost every mission he says 'rakushou' meaning easy vicoty/it was a peice of cake.

sooo I'll post more when I get there!! [start/end: sept 26, 2007] yah for the Japanese version, the voice actors are muucchh better. I love tsengs voice actor.

Okay, back again [sept 27 2007] this is gonna be a sad sad updates. So while Angeal takes care of Genesis, Zack has to fight Neo Bahamaut (i believe that's what it's called in ffvii). So after he defeats it Angeal and Genesis are both gone. (why does my memory suck, at least i'll be hitting the major points). Zack goes to meet Aeris (he had promised to make/give her a wagon so she can sell flowers, but as he gets to the church, Tseng appears and says aeris isn't there and they have a mission. Helicopter comes and picks them up. A monster attacks the helicopter and it crashes. It's Zack, Tseng and two shinra soldiers (not Soldier, but the regular patrol type) and one of them is Cloud. May I add ( my dislike for cloud has increased a hhundred fold) Cloud is sucha girlish punk so far. lol. So they find a military hold and Zack inflitrates. Inside he fights Genesis who was about to kill Holander. (Cloud catches Holander as he tries to run but Holander, as overweight and middle age as he is, knocks cloud down like he's a small child. So Zack sends Cloud off after Holander). It turns out Genesis is deteriorating., his hair has gray streaks and even the top part of his uniform is gray and his eyes are duller. Boss fight with Genesis. At the end of the fight he's very weak and continues to quote from 'Loveless' he tells Zack that this is the end of the monster, and since the world threatens his existence, he will take the world with him in his downfall, and jumps off the platform into darkness. Zack goes out after the fight but Tseng and Cloud are no where to be seen so he heads on another path towards Icecicle Inn. There in an abonded bathhouse he finds Tseng and Cloud down. Tseng tell him that Angeal is waiting for him ahead...

MAJOR part. Holander and Angeal are in this room and Holander reveals a LOT. The woman that was killed in Banola was actually Angeal's mother, Gillian. Thus Project G, like Lucrecia her embroes were injected with Jenova cells. Genesis was the failed experiment, Angeal was the success. Angeal yells for Holander to stop saying his mother's name, and reminds Zack he promised to fight with him to protect all those who cause the world to suffer. Zack says that Angeal isn't like that but angeal replies he is causing himself pain and summons a lot of his clones. Holander tries to grab at him (he wants to protect his experiment and the Jenova cells within Angeal), but Angeal pushes him away, the clones meld with him and he turns in to a onster. The monster thrust a lance towards Zack face, leaving the scar we see later. Zack defeats him and Angeal reverts back to his human form w/ one wing and white feathers scattered everywhere. He leaves the Buster sword to Zack, and tells him to never forget his dreams, or his pride. He dies and rain begins to fall. The screen blacks out and we are in Aeris' church. She is talking about he flowers but when she turns to Zack she notcies him sitting alone crossed legged sobbing loudly. She wraps her arms around him.

Time has passed, we can tell b/c Zack's hair is different and he looks older, he is giving a pep talk to the new group of Soldier trainess. he holds Angeals sword up and presses it to his forhead reverently (as Angeal used to do) and tells the men to embrace their dreams and to never forget their pride as a soldier (soldier no hokori). He holds the sword up high and says softly to it 'let's go'

Screen blacks up and Zack is at Costa del Sol with the Turks. all of a sudden Genesis clones jump from the water so Zack (this is hilarious looking) graps a beach umbrella and uses that as a sword. After the battle, Tseng tells him that Genesis probably fell into the lifestream and could possibly be sending his clones out (manipulating them like Sephiroth did from the Lifestream in ff7) and that they have to find Holander in Junon and protect him ( i have no idea why). also Lezard suddenly went missing in his search for Holander and this whole time Sephiroth has been doing reseach into project G and Jenova (uh-oh, think i see where this is going...). They get to Junon and the town is burning, Genesis clones running wild and people fleeing....

So I have played several boss battles today. and in the materia missions, little kid yuffie keeps stealing my materia X_x . So far i only have Ifrit, Bahamaut, and Odin (though I haven't battled him as a boss or got to summon him myself...). I'll add more as I get it... [end 9-27-01]/
